    Ashley MacDonald grew-up in Franklin County and went to Missisquoi Valley Union High School as an adolescent. Ashley attended Johnson State College for her undergraduate education (BA, Psychology) and continued to reside in Johnson for 10 years until returning to Franklin County in November 2020. Ashley obtained her graduate degree through Southern New Hampshire University (MS, Forensic Psychology) and received Sigma Alpha Pi (maintained a 4.0 GPA) high honors through the National Society of Leadership & Success. Ashley joined the Vermont Counseling & Training Center in September 2020 and is now the co-owner of VCTC since January 2022 with Stephanie McCarthy, MSW.

    Ashley has always had a passion for making connections, helping individuals find happiness in their lives, and giving back to our local community. Some of Ashley’s previous experience in the field includes working as a children’s behavioral interventionist, substance use case manager through Lund, mental health and substance use case manager through treatment (drug) court, and a court-involved family services worker through the Department for Children & Families (DCF). Ashley specializes in working with children ages 4+, adolescents, young adults, those struggling with OCD, disordered eating, mood / personality disorders, and the LGBTQ+ community. Ashley’s uses a trauma-informed, strength-based psychotherapy approach and customizes treatment modalities that include CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, positive psychology, and expressive arts therapy.

    In addition to her role as a psychotherapist and co-owner, Ashley is also a mentor, trainer, and supervisor to interns at the Vermont Counseling & Training Center. Along with this, Ashley facilitates psychoeducational workshops for the community and trainings for professionals. When Ashley isn’t at VCTC you can find her instructing local Zumba classes, working with state-wide animal welfare rescues, and spending time with her husband along with their “mini petting zoo” (5 cats, 1 ferret, 1 ball python, 10 chickens, and 3 ducks).

    Hours: Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 8:00am – 7:00pm.
