Stephanie McCarthy was born and raised in Vermont. Her passion for working in the mental health/social service field started eight years ago when she was an active volunteer for a restorative justice program. Finding a passion for working with people, she decided to enter the social work field and was a case manager for adults diagnosed with acute mental illness in a community mental health setting. While beginning her Master of Clinical Social Work program, she worked in a residential program for adults. Stephanie then interned at an agency that provides services for survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence, where she gained valuable knowledge and experience working with trauma. She accepted a job as a Crisis Hotline Advocate until her internship at Vermont Counseling and Training Center. Stephanie is finishing her MSW as an intern with Vermont Counseling and Training Center under the supervision of Tammie Consejo, LCMHC, PhD.
