Stephanie McCarthy was born and raised in Vermont. Her passion for working in the mental health/social service field started in 2010. Some of Stephanie’s previous experience in the field includes volunteering within the restorative justice system, working with adults diagnosed with acute mental illness in a community mental health setting, providing advocacy and crisis work for survivors of intimate partner violence, and more.
Stephanie started at Vermont Counseling and Training Center as an intern, and then stayed with the team as a rostered psychotherapist. Stephanie holds a master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical focus, from the University of New England. Stephanie continues to serve as a Student Ambassador for the University of New England, helping prospective master’s-level students through the process of applying to graduate school. Stephanie also is a mentor, trainer and supervisor to interns at Vermont Counseling and Training Center.
